Regulatory Exam Assistance

Need Help with an SEC Exam?

Whether you’ve never been examined by the SEC, or several years have passed since a previous examination, even the most prepared firms can benefit from guidance during an examination and assistance responding to a deficiency letter.

The Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE) conducts the SEC’s National Exam Program and its analytic efforts and examinations remain firmly grounded in the following four pillars: promoting compliance, preventing fraud, identifying and monitoring risk, and informing policy.

During fiscal year 2019, OCIE completed 3,089 total examinations and 2,180 of these examinations were of registered investment advisers.  OCIE continues to conduct risk-based examinations of “never been examined” investment advisers, including both newly registered investment advisers, and investment advisers that have been registered for several years but have yet to be examined.  Additionally, OCIE announced that it will prioritize examinations of registered investment advisers that were previously examined but have not been examined for a number of years, to focus on whether their compliance programs have appropriately adapted in light of any substantial growth or change in their business models.

Whether you’ve never been examined by the SEC, or several years have passed since a previous examination, even the most prepared investment advisers and other financial services firms, can benefit from guidance during an examination and assistance responding to a deficiency letter.  Coast to Coast Compliance will guide you through the regulatory examination process, will assist you drafting a response to any deficiency letter, and will provide and help implement relevant compliance solutions required as a result of the examination.
